Foxe's Book Of Martyrs: Book Review and Life Lessons

In Mark 16:15 it says,  "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
Foxe's Book of Martyrs  is book full of names and stories of men and women who have died for Christ. This book is moving and inspirational. This title would certainly go under the genre of Classic, Motivation, Inspirational, and Spiritual.

This book gives you a brief yet insightful taste of what these faithful men and women have gone through to defend their beliefs and their faith in God. The author wanted  people (especially members of the church) to remember the martyrs, because he firmly believed that they are the seed of the church.

In Romans 10: 15 it says, " And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"

Foxe's Book of Martyrs is moving and was definitely full of meaning. The author surly did achieve his purpose in writing this book. I can honestly say that this book was very effective, powerful, and beautiful.

The book has many strengths, the author touched on subject of strong faith and unwavering belief in the Lord.
In Romas 1: 16 it says" For I am not aashamed of the bgospel of Christ: for it is thecpower of God unto dsalvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."

I loved this book and it has very good insights however I would recommend that an older more advanced reader reads it. Because it is quite gruesome in details.

I found this book to be very interesting. I was able to evaluate myself and see that I need to completely devote my life to serving God. This book also gave me a good example of unwavering faith, and now that I have understood it I can apply it more easily to my life.

 Lead Thou Me On!

I would highly recommend this book! I was very impressed with the outcome of it!
Here are some self evaluation questions I considered while reading this book.

How close am I to the Lord? Does everything I do tie back to the Lord?

Who is my foundation? Is my foundation sure and firm?

What are some simple ways I can strengthen my faith?

Am  I willing to die for Christ?

Do I have unwavering faith in Christ and in the gospel?

How an I be an example to the unbelievers?

2 Chronicles 15: 7 Says, " Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded."

I Heard Him Come

May we all realize the importance of the gospel and thank god for his sacrifices for us!

The Importance of a Mother

"The holiest words my tongue can frame, the noblest thoughts my soul can claim, unworthy are to praise the name, more precious than all other. An infant, when her love first came, a man, I find it still the same, reverently I breathe her name, the blessed name of mother." (The Name of Mother by: George Griffith Fether).

Women  have such a beautiful and divine calling to bring precious children into the world, and to care  for them and teach them.
In Alma 57: 21 it says "Yea, and they did obey and observe to perform every word of command with exactness; yea, and even according to their faith it was done unto them; and I did remember the words they said unto me that their mothers had taught them."

Your mother is such an important person in your life. She was the one who taught you right from wrong and wants you to learn and grow. She is also one of your biggest supporters in life.  In the book It Takes a Mother to Raise a Village, the author Colleen Down said "As mothers each one of us is important in the life of our own children, We are in fact the most important person on earth to our children,"

Our mothers have such a big impact on us in our lives. Your mother wants to be close to you she especially wants to build a close relationship with you. You need your mother especially in your youth to help counsel, teach, and guide you in the right direction. Your  mother was specifically chosen for you. God knew exactly who you needed in life to counsel, guide, and teach you.

Make sure to let your mother know how much you love her and how much she means to you. Make sure to also let your mother know how much you are thankful for her and all the sacrifices she makes for you.

I am so thankful for my mother who God has blessed me with. May we all realize the importance of our mothers and thank God for her everyday!

Agency And Accountability

"wherefore, men... are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great mediator of all men, or to choose activity and death." 2nd Nephi 2: 27

God had given us such an amazing and beautiful blessing to have free agency.
"God's long-suffereing is sometimes necessary to provide additional opportunities  for us to repent. We may think God is merely marking time when actually He is marking openings for us which are sorely needed. But despite this patient care, we are slow to escape from familiar cell or selfishness."
( Neil L Maxwell) (Luke 10:18, Doctrine and Covenants 29: 36)

We have been blessed with agency to choose right from wrong. The Lord also wants us to know what is right and what is wrong. (Moses 3:17)

From the beginning the Lord has told us to return to Him, but yet we can choose liberty or captivity.

When people are truly righteous, there could not be a happier people it is the Lord who guides us to make good choices to return to Him.

The Lord desires for us to be happy, He wants you to endure and make good choices now to return to Him someday.
His work and His glory is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.  But it will only be accomplished in His way and in His due time.
"The Lord wil surely stay the course the question is, Will we?
(2nd Nephi 2: 11)
There is and has to be opposition in all things.
You have the choice to make good decisions. (2nd Nephi 28:8)
You have the freedom to choose. Satan seeks to move us from the true path, and creates confusion and doubt.

" You are responsible for the choices you make.
God is mindful of you and will help you make good choices, even if your family and friends use their agency in ways that are not right.
Have the moral courage to stand firm obeying God's will, even if you have to stand alone.
As you do this you will set an example for others to follow." (For Strength Of Youth)

What ever circumstances we always have the right to choose.
With having the right to choose comes the responsibility to choose.
The Lord has provided us with the means necessary to receive guidance through prayer,
Holy Ghost, and scriptures.
Make the choice now to not deviate from the path which the Lord has led us on o return to Him in heaven.
Thomas S. Monson said " All our choices have consequences, some which have little or or nothing
to do with our eternal salvation and others which have everything to do with it."
God has given us so much!
May we all have the courage to stand for truth and righteousness.
Even though it may not always be the popular thing to do, as Thomas S. Monson said " Dare to have a purpose, dare to stand alone"
Friends I know from experience it is not easy! But as you do this you will be the one to set the example for others to follow.
Even though you have the freedom to choose, you however do not get to choose your consequences whether good or bad you will aways have consequences.

The question to ask ourselves is Are my choices leading me towards everlasting happiness?

Moroni 7: 15-19
Doctrine and covenants 58: 27-28

Sincere Love

Jesus loves everyone unconditionally and because he does, we may have a true confidence.

In the book Becoming A Woman Of Influence  the author explains the three stages of loving others as follows:

1. kindness: a warm assurance that "we care about you"
2. Encouraging: a strong reassurance of your own strength
3. Challenge: a loving but firm extortion to action

Individual Worth

In Psalms 8:4-6 it says "What is aman, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou bvisitest him?
For thou hast made him a little alower than the bangels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.  Thou madest him to have adominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:"
Ok, so lets do a mini document study for a quick second. "Thou has made him lower than the angels, and has crowned them with glory." This scripture gives you a good
perspective of God's pure love, he is going to crown us with glory even though, we are nothing, yet God has the PURE love of Christ. Lets see what the definition is of glory and honor.
Glory: Very great praise, honor, or distinction bestowed by common consent.
Honor: High respect, as for worth.
Heavenly Father has blessed us so abundantly, even though we are forever in his debt we can never ever pay him back. This value individual worth is definitely inspired from God. If we are praying daily for his guidance to help us find our life mission and potential. God will bless you with the answers you are searching for, and we will gain a greater stringer faith in Him.

In the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens , Sean Covey talks about taking baby steps to make changes in your life, and created goals for yourself. Your goals can seem intimidating but by applying the concept of " baby steps"  and pray to Heavenly Father  for strength and courage. He will give you what you need!
For example: If you wanted to be converted or stronger in your faith. Pray to Heavenly Father and ask him  , What can I do to fully live out my life's mission? And, How can I serve thee and Glorify thee?  As you pray stay in tune with the spirit and be willing to do what ever the Lord has called you to do. In the Hymn I'll Go Were You Want Me To Go  it says " I'll go were you want me to go dear Lord, I'll be what you want me to be dar Lord." I know from experience that the God will provide for you and support you in your endeavors to come unto Him. He will also help you to understand the gospel and to know what the gospel has in store for you.
At the end of the day in your night prayers, make sure to let the Lord know what you are thankful for also think to yourself "Have I done any good in the world today?" "Have I made anyone's burden lighter by serving them today?" These are import an thing sot think about as you come unto the Lord in prayer.
In Doctrine and Covenants is says" Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God."
God wants you to be happy, and by having a close relationship with Him you will be more in tune with the spirit. You will also know with a surety that you are of INFINITE worth!
Remember you are of infinite worth and by living your divine mission you will be blessed.
God is knocking, you are the only one who can let Him in your life, Are you striving to serve the Lord in your life?
